This weekend has been the 30th Annual Folk Dance Festival, up here in the great northlands. There have been dozens & dozens & dozens of different workshops, in all sorts of different ethnic traditions. We took a class yesterday in our favorite: swing dance!! (One of the lesser known ethnic traditions, but they explained in that it originated totally from the American Jazz experience, it qualified. LOL) Tonight was a celebratory swing dance party. The instructors were great and we really did learn some new moves..... now if we can just remember the steps. I sure hope that they include 'swing' again in the future. There was an underwhelming response (as far as numbers in attendance) to tonight's opportunity -- but we still had a ball. Everyone who came had a great time and learned in the process. We need to recruit some members for next year. I sure hope they return with 'swing' in the future.
It is an enormous challenge to get a picture of people and the sun setting in the same frame. We have been experimenting in what-on-earth-setting on the camera should be used. I think we've got it!! It's an experiment in the setting where you can adjust the shutter speed. Ah-ha!! Can't wait for tonight's experiment. The top photo was taken by Allen, just holding the camera at his arm's length. The second we reciprocated for another couple. Their camera without the shutter speed options shows them in complete 'silhouette' against the gorgous sunset. Ours has people but not a very 'full' sunset. The experiment continues. Stay tuned.
