Santa IN the Aquarium!

MY personal favorite part of the entire Columbus Zoo is the Aquarium. Allen & I got separated from the rest of our tribe and got 'lost' following our delay to get a hot pretzel..... all of those colorful lights had us completely confused. So we wandered for a while in search of double-wide strollers. Eventually we caught up with our crew, who were engaged in watching the amazing sharks and bright tropical fish in their continuous cavort together.

Who would appear for our complete amazement? Santa himself!! With complete Santa suit and scuba tank -- to feed the fish and tickle the fancy of the throng in attendance. The fish swarmed him. Whatever he had to share the schools of fish were in holiday heaven.

I think that it's safe to say that McKenna was not as delighted by the gi-normous tree frog as her brothers. When she became increasingly more upset, her twinsie brother smacked the frog to back off. Interesting protective action. A memorable time was had by all. Fa-la-la-la-la.

Look Who's Three NOW!

We've hit yet another milestone. Wonder-boy turned three. Note the zest in his peanut butter smile over breakfast waffles. The perfect weather cooperated for a GeeGee, Mommy, WB & da babeez field-trip to the zoo. Of course my favorite spot is always the aquarium. The two middle pictures are taken in that darkened space, with WB's nose pressed right up to the glass. I think you may be able to see the look of wonder in his eyes -- in the reflection of the glass.

The last picture of the day's festivities is underneath his family's very high 'suspended deck' upon our return to our starting point A. Below their deck, is an extremely steep hill which is a perfect gathering spot for all of last season's leaves. The two of us had a great time throwing leaves at each other. In a truly grandmotherly-way, I gave permission to slide down this rather muddy incline..... throwing leaves all the while. Can you see just a glimmer of the fun that we had in our fort under the deck? Every child needs to get muddy on their birthday. It should be a rule somewhere. I need to check the Constitution for that guarantee.

Dallas World Aquarium

Well many of you know how I feel about polka-dots. Imagine how thrilled I was to find sting-rays with my all time favorite: black and white and polka dots!! The octopus was absolutely amazing to watch -- up close and personal!! Probably my all time favorite is watching the Leafy Sea Horses. I think they are evidence of a Creator with such a sense of humor. In all of my travels, I seldom have the time to get out and explore much of the surroundings, so it was a real THRILL to be able to take this field trip. Sharks, penguins, snakes flamingos..... you name it!
