I'm of an era where we watched the odometer on cross country trips. We've just hit a real milestone with the big green machine: 9,999.9 miles..... in a mere 12 years of riding together. Actually, the bike is mine. Officially that's true. I bought it for him for his 'big' birthday and the title is in my name. LOL. The granny-biker. Anyhow, while this amazing weather holds we've been making treks here & there. We watched very carefully & pulled over on our favorite Route Q to document the excitement. Another two-tenths of a mile and the backdrop would have been my favorite grove of birch trees, mixed with some tall strands of pine.

Painting Demo @ Edgewater
Yesterday was incredible. We took the motorcycle up to the north end of the peninsula..... stopping to have our traditional brunch @ the Viking Grill. Then we went south and went to watch a painting demonstration by Gretchen Klug, who is known for working primarily with a palette knife and a LOT of paint. Have I mentioned lately just how much I like this place? The fact that they serve you a glass of wine and a delicious cookie during the painting demonstration just makes it a nicer afternoon.

Friends Arrive w RV!!
Our friends from the southern end of the state have safely arrived, for their mini-vacation..... wheeling in with their RV. We had the great idea to share our pick-up truck with them, so the motor cycle is really getting it's work out. We're gonna have all sorts of fun together. The question is where to begin and what to include.

Motorcycles & Friends!!
Last year the most emotional portion of the walk, came in pushing WB's stroller past the several blocks lined with motorcycles and motorcyclists. The bikers took turns giving high fives and revving their engines as loud as possible. Last year all the noise brought on a whole cascade of tears. This year I knew to look forward to this climactic conclusion of the walk -- and besides, I had my own biker with me again this year!
Imagine my surprise to find my CAEYC buddy, Joyce at the conclusion of the blocks of bikers. There she was again this year, with that great big hug of hers, just waiting till I found her. The last picture in this segment is an ol' dear friend from my JCC years. Michelle Kuzma is a 16 YEAR survivor! Give me a whoot-whoo: WHOOOT WHOOOT!! Those two girls hardly look like they could have been in preschool any time recently. What's up with that?? What are the odds of running into each other in a throng this size?? So much fun that we did. The policeman had to move us out of the gazillion passing by, for our picture posing. LOL. We continue our friendship on Facebook. See ya next year friends!

Rear View Mirror Snap
Yesterday and even more so today, we are aware of the impending changing of the seasons. With just a hint of sunshine to encourage us, we bundled up in numerous layers and had a glorious jaunt, on the big green bike, to the tip of the top of the peninsula. We popped in at Charlene's Ten Gallery, took a photo shoot at Gills Rock and then continued up further, to land's end all the way to the ferry dock. The stretch of road pictured above is every one's favorite snaking tarmac and is photographed by all who make it that far north. I was very focused on getting a pic of the road and had just recently read about the importance of the tripod to successful photography. I figured I'd use Allen's shoulder as my tripod. Imagine how excited I was at downloading the images -- to find our reflection in the mirror!! Funny. Had I known that was a possibility, I don't know if I'd have gotten the road ahead? Or the reflection?? Sometimes life just gives you the happiest of surprises.
