Florence Blue Skies
I could write a book about driving thru Florence up to our hilltop abode in Fisole -- about the traffic and the motorcyles and scooters buzzing about like mosquitos, but let's just summarize by saying that we made it safely & frazzled. Fisole is up a series of switch-backs and hairpin turns that would curl your hair to see on Elsa's GPS roadmap or to look out the window.
As we made our way up higher & higher on the crest the 'roadway' got narrower & narrower. When Elsa finally announced we had arrived at our destination, the road looked more like a sidewalk between two steep stone walls -- complete with a handrail. We stopped before continuing, literally thinking it was a walkway, but were told by the locals that it was indeed the road to our lodging. LOL. These are the photos from the next day. [We took the public bus back down and up again & were completely relaxed in that transit.]
