Vest Under Construction

Kansas City. Kansas City, here I come. (Please sing for full effect.) We've started the countdown before our upcoming whirlwind, cross country travel. Before KC we will be heading to Denver, but KC has my full attention at the moment. I decided that I've made enough progress on the book illustrations that I could take a brief break and make a new wardrobe piece. I got the front sections put together this morning. I have about 5 days before take off. BTW: it's to go with an orange & white polka dotted skirt. The dots on the skirt are about 3 inches across. It's pretty original -- so it needed an original ensemble accessory. Can't wait to see if I can 'pull this off' in the time alloted.

Indulge Me a Bit Longer

There are whole clumps of daisies that are already beginning to fade. I'm rushing around to find the latest blooming ones. The hollyhocks were so late and now the daisies are just about passed. The season itself is indeed passing. As are the daisies. As go the daisies, so goes the season.

Daisies? A Few More Daisies

I'm officially 'wild' over daisies.

Paint-Out @ Dock

All forty artists were engaged in an evening "Paint Off" using the same 'subject' area. They were all to be @ Anderson's Dock for the evening hours of 6 -9:00 pm on Wed. There were 5 artists out on a jutting jetty. Another 5 perched on a hill. One down an individual mini-dock. Here an artist, there an artist, everywhere an artist, artist. Their contracts call for them to turn in a total of 6 framed pictures from the start of the week till sundown tonight/on Friday. I even learned that all canvas or paper being used has to be 'stamped' as blank, at the beginning of the week..... to make certain that all work is created during the hours of the festival.

Paint, Paint, Paint

What an inspiration..... to observe this much creativity in the process!! Each of the artists is absolutely a dream come true in their willingness to share their approach, their background, their insight -- answering any & all questions all while wielding their brushes and working, giving tutorials while capturing the sights. Can you see Bonnie's wide-brimmed hat being captured now as subject matter?? Fun.

In Action & Framed Finale

Here are a couple of others in process -- thru to framed & hanging in the gallery. The top artist is Bonnie Flood of GA in her wide brimmed hat. She became the actual subject matter of her fellow painter's canvas. Tom Nachreiner is the artist of this depiction of the water lillies @ Fine Lines. His painting from last year is the subject on this year's festival red t-shirts. He hails from here in WI.

Fine Lines Continued

That's Sandra (that I met while biking) in the first picture
and some of her other friends....
all in action in the media of their choice:
pastels, oils, watercolor.
