OCEAN TIME! OCEAN STUDY! OCEAN INSPIRATION!
Today I've pulled together a RoundUP of dozens and dozens of ideas with an Under-the-Sea theme. I've been combing back through pictures that I've taken on my Author-Illustrator school visits over the last couple of years to plumb the depths of the ocean. As I share my books in schools, they share their projects with me!
I have Ocean bulletin boards, Ocean Murals, Ocean dioramas, Ocean creatures both great and small to share. My hope is to inspire your own plans to include *MORE* creative and original projects in the future. ENJOY!
Let's start with these Hoosier dioramas. The whole world in a shoe box! You can see that the three dimensional studies are proudly on display below the student's written reports. Shazam!
Believe it or not?
This next image is of two Ocean Dioramas that I saw in Reggio Emilia, ITALY!
Oceans are big and we share them!
I LUV me a cooperative, collaborative project and an Ocean Study lends itself to just that sort of treatment!
I just included this Ocean Graph in my very recent RoundUP of all things 'graph-like.'
Anyone a fan of the flip flop?
How clever is this Beach Bulletin Board for color fun?
Makes me smile from ear-to-ear!
Simple wins every time!
Here's another bulletin board, but more on a nautical theme!
Sail into .............. grade.
The flags make for such a clever finishing details.
Now for some Ocean Murals.
From the Ultimate in Realistic to the Most Artistic-Creative.
This next collaborative "Ocean Mural" was created by the students under the direction of the school's Art teacher. It took up the very l-o-n-g hallway between wings. It is my understanding that they make one new mural every year. I took quite a few pictures of the details, so you can appreciate the creativity!
Don't you *LUV* the title?
"It takes all kinds of fish to make a school."
You know how they say that things are BIGGER in Texas?
Take a look at these decorated doors for an Ocean theme!
Yup. I saw them in Texas!
Yup. They were bigger than anything I had EVER seen.
Yup. The kiddos LUV LUV LUV'd showing me their room!
A painted window next to the classroom door: name that ocean creature.
Another Ocean Bulletin Board Theme.
Florescent PAINT!
I want to give an award to this "Ocean Reading Corner!"
Doesn't this just make you want to curl up with your favorite book?
BRING ON SUMMER!
Now for some more *FISH* projects.
From the simple paper plate possibility to the original and authentic painted!
Look at the fish above!
Look at the fish below!
One was created in New York.
One was created in Italy.
Can you guess which one is from where?
Here's a completely awesome idea!
In Texas, the art teacher 'sells' ceiling tiles to students for their paintings through the Art Club.
Parents sponsor their child's painting.
The $$ collected goes into the Art Department budget for the extras.
*I'm sorry this is such a rotten picture, but the idea is too terrific not to share.
LOOK at these INCREDIBLE "Kite Fish"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These were made my 3rd graders in the Art Room at Mr. Greg's school in Tennessee!
Too amazing for words.
Butcher Paper by the roll!
Three dimensional!
GOTTA LUV an OUTSTANDING Elementary School Art Teacher!
Are you ready for THE.MOST.AMAZING sea creatures seen in an elementary school?
These beauties were displayed hanging from the ceiling.
THEY WERE HUGE!
Let me see if I can track down some specifics.
Particularly the grade level of the students.
I have to ask Luanne of "Kindergarten Rocks."
She's in my phone, so I can send her a text!
I've selected several of my Ocean-based writing prompts to include here.
Have you heard?
We're going to HAWAII for the first time, later this summer.
Yes. I promise to take scads more photos!
In time I'll make some more writing prompts!
Promise!
Do you work in a "FAITH BASED" setting?
One of the favorite songs that I've written is entitled,
"God Did."
The lyrics are:
"Who made the waves in the ocean, the sand on the beach,
the sun in the sky, the juice in the peach...........
Do you know? I do. God did. That's who."
I have it in a zipped file in digital format as an Mp3.
You can download it for *FREE* at our
Early Education Emporium.
The file has powerpoint slides of the lyrics included.
*Or you can purchase it at Teachers Pay Teachers.
One of my favorite school visits of the year is my annual trip to St. Paul in Westerville, OH.
I've been going there for about the last ten years or so.
My visit is usually at the VERY end of the school year.
This year I was their mid-May thanks to the flexibility of my dear friends.
What a JOY to see this bulletin board in the kindergarten classroom of Mrs. Rose!
I know that you want to take a closer look at this amazing Kinder writing!
already organized and awaiting your browsing.
Now let's conclude with some of my photographs.
I enjoy adding sentiments and quotes to my snaps.
Hope that they brighten your day!
I am grateful for each and every SHOUT OUT in social media!
