SCHOOL BUS Season is Getting Closer!
Last night we had our fourth weekly
Tuesday Teacher Twitter PRACTICE CHAT!
I am just amazed by the number of schools very near to the launch of another school year. Is it my imagination or does the post-Labor Day launch happen in fewer and fewer locations. I wanted to rush this collection to press for those first few weeks of getting acclimated to the school routine.
Look at this beautiful bus collage. Framed, matted and under glass at the Houston airport. The style of painted paper collage pieces is almost Eric Carle in approach.
Here's a cutting and fine motor project for a personalized school bus!
Don't ya just LUV LUV LUV the windows in each project?
I saw these kindergarten 'cities' with an active school bus element on display in the halls of the kindergarten building where I made my author/illustrator school visit on Long Island in New York! I think I need to return to this stellar program! I'm willing!!
This hand-painted mural was commissioned by a dedicated Kinder-teacher in Ohio. Do you recognize the bus driver? Wait till you see all of the 'characters' headed to kindergarten! You really owe it to yourself to go back to this article and see the rest of the murals in his classroom!
This next one has to be my favorite school bus of all time.
The original child's drawing was taped on the wall in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
No bigger than an 8" by 10" piece of paper as seen below.
A professional artist then 'enlarged' and replicated by child's drawing in the two story entrance way of the new school's building. If you look closely in the upper left hand corner of my photo below, you'll notice the thermostat on the wall and that gives you some sense of the dimensions of this finished mural!!
Riding the *BIG* bus to school is a HUGE milestone in the lives of any pips.
These are my two WonderTwins (grand-children) on their first day of Kindergarten last fall.
A fitting reminder of the meaning of 'kinder garten' from days of yore.
Hoping that all of your plans and preparations for the coming school year are unfolding with ease. Hoping also that your final days of summer, however limited or expansive they feel are filled with delightful experiences and plenty of reflection on all that you contribute to the village.
