Snowmen in 'Snow Globe' (Plastic Ziploc Sandwich Bags)

Snowmen in 'Snow Globe' Sandwich Bags via RainbowsWithinReach

SNOWMEN in a "SNOW GLOBE" Plastic Bag Style!

My latest school visit was in El Campo, Texas!
I was there on their ICE Day School Delay.
Despite all of the weather's craziness, that far south in Texas,
we were able to have five presentations of my music-lady/author-illustrator fun!

The compressed nature of the day, left me VERY little time to zip about the hallways taking pictures.....
BUT I was able to capture these beauties!
These classic winter projects were created by Kindergarten students!

GLITTER ALERT!

By reverse engineering, I can determine that the student was given a piece of blue construction paper as a 'backdrop' for their snowglobe. No doubt precut by the teacher to fit the appropriate size ziploc plastic bag for the end product. These projects were created in 'quart sized' plastic bags. The students embellished their winter background with white crayon.

Then the Snowmen and pine trees were constructed fom additional construction paper.
Glue all of these delightful art pieces into place.

Add in your Snow Glitter.
Top with a happy RED topper.
Staple the RED topper into place.
Pre-printed labels for a happy description: "Let it Snow!"

I know that you're going to ask about the specifics of the snowglobe ingredients.
I asked the teachers.
Those available to me didn't know the exact specifics.
They said that some glitter was mixed with some 'snow stuff.'

I have done a search for 'snow-stuff.'
These are affiliate links to my Amazon account.
{By purchasing through this link you support my work.}

I found this 'Diamond Dust Twinklets' and this 'Aleen's Glitter Snow' on Amazon.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know that either of these products are what was used in the ziplock projects above, but they seem like fun craft ingredients to have on hand for winter.

I have done a quick search on the web for DIY Snow Globes and have found several great links for inspiration. My very favorite is:
How to make a Snow Globe @ Our Best Bites

These are additional resources you'll want to sneak a peek.
Homemade Snow Globes @ PBS Kids by RedTed Art my cyber friend
Snow Globe @ Spoonful
Snow Globe @ Michael's Crafts

None of these tutorials is specific about the 'glitter' stuff.
They all suggest mixing in Glycerin for the projects that are liquid.

While we're on the subject of Snow Globes, I think it is very appropriate to include this Oldie-but-Goodie from my travels last year in Florida.

I'll stick these two images in here, too.

100 Day Party Celebration

100th DAY CELEBRATION TIME! IDEAS GALORE!!
100 Day Celebration RoundUP at RainbowsWithinReach

Get out your party hats and glitter!!! We're getting ready for the BIGGEST party of the year! WELCOME!! I've got some new ideas and inspiration to share.

100 Days of School! It's a PARTY! Projects and inspiration at RainbowsWithinReach

100 DAY PARTY PLANNER!
How close is your countdown, {or is it count-UP} getting to your 100th day celebration? I know many are getting tantalizingly close and others are further and further 'delayed' due to all of the weather cancellations to the calendar. Whatever your situation, I have some inspiration to share today.

In my travels as "music-lady, author/illustrator woman' I get to make a lot of school visits during the year and I capture as many photos as possible during my travels. Here are some from my memory card over the last year. I've been waiting to pull them together to share!

Isn't this first day-of-school goal what it's all about? Here's the evidence that Melanie wants to learn to count to 100!

"I want to learn to count to 100"

Time marches on. The days add up: stacking up one on top of the other. Then before you know it? We've made it all the way to the 100th! AND it is time for a party!!! Let's pull out all the stops!

There's literally nothing better than a school milestone adorned with a photograph. Whether it is a holiday ornament or a hand-colored "100." You simply can not go wrong with inserting the student's photo!

The former elementary school art teacher in me rejoices over these next anticipatory self portraits. These kinder-kiddos have been asked to create a forcasted portait of themselves as they hit the milestone of turning 100 YEARS old! These are just too dear for words!

I can just imagine this group reconvening on their collective 100th Year for a reunion. I can envision that they will all play canasta together and have a big cake! I swear I saw a couple of these 100 year olds at church just last Sunday. I KNOW I saw some of that bauble jewelry! LUV LUV LUV it!!

Next up are some creative ways that kinder-kids have combined the numerals "1-O-O" to make imagined creations. What a great way to stretch those creative engineering skills. Think outside of the box!

Last Year about this time I did a RoundUP of all the inspiration I had seen up to that point.
You SERIOUSLY must click back for all of those bulletin board ideas!

Just in case you don't have time to click back to last year's article, I'll insert this brilliant idea here, too.
It is one of the 'most pinned' images of my entire blog!
Send a baggie home and ask for 100 items!
Compare and contrast: weight, density = SCIENCE!!

I have written a song called "100 Days" to add to the festive parties from north to south and east to west. It is available in digital download format over at Teachers Pay Teachers. The chorus includes counting by 5's to one hundred and the big ending has counting by 10's..... with an Elvis Presley 'feel' throughout.

Under the category of 'additional resources' I have been pinning ideas for your support under a pinboard dedicated to the celebration of the 100th day. There are oodles of resources here.

If you've made it this far and you're actually READING..... then you need to go over to the blog, "Classy Mommy" because she has a RoundUP of the ULTIMATE guide to FREEBIES for the 100th Day.  You'll find the pin on my pinboard, but I thought you'd want the direct link to save you a step!

In real time I am in Texas!
Just flew out for fun in El Campo & Houston!
The sky was so incredible outside my window.
*I made you this little reminder as a thank you.

Motivational quote: Grow your own Wings! at Rainbows Within Reach

I got to spend the day with Cheryl of "Crayons & Curls" blogging fame! Despite the excitement brought on by the winter weather in southern Texas and a two hour delay for ice-in-the-forecast.... the showS did indeed go on. I was able to present 5, yes FIVE presentations to their building filled with PreK, K and Firsties ONLY! Cheryl is the sweetest person you're likely to meet.

Meeting my cyber-friends, that have lived in my computer..... for years...... for the first time?
PRICELESS!!!

Reading Begins with the Child's Name!

Reading Begins with the Child's Name: RoundUP at RainbowsWithinReach

"NAME" RoundUP! Names, nAmEs and more NAMES!
I saw these delightful photos on a bulletin board recently on one of my school visits as Author-Illustrator. Each child was photographed holding a magnet board with their name spelled out in magnetized letters. Then these personalized photos became the 'spot' to denote the student's work on display in the hallway.

Magnet Letters to Personalize the Bulletin Board with Names at RainbowWithinReach

Seeing these clever name 'spots' made me think of the quote, "The bridge to reading is through the child's name." {Sure wish I knew who said it!} How exciting it is to be able to recognize and manipulate all of the letters in your name! R-E-A-D-I-N-G! It seemed like a good topic for a RoundUP! So I've been culling through to find lots of fun with NAMES!

Let's take a look at some more photo-faces. These firefighters have their names written on their helmets.
