HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Bring on the flowers and the heart-felt, handwritten sentiments. Today's the day! Time to pour on the thanks and shower the women in your life with smiles and hugs. I've gathered an entire garden filled with original flowers in bloom to brighten your day.
These beauties were on display last week just outside Indianapolis on the bulletin boards of the "Friendly Flock" Preschool. They are glorious -- in their color and energy -- and each is more unique than the last.
The cupcake liners are a main ingredient in this project for spring. They make the blooms emerge, literally from the gloriously thick paint strokes. It's fun to see how they are used uniquely from painting to painting, bringing a smile to last forever. Some of our blooms burst forth from the paper and others are so thick with paint they are seemingly a permanent addition to the backdrop.
Receiving an original masterpiece with an eternal sunshine will brighten the day -- no matter what is happening in the skies outside your window. The simplicity and innocence of these brush strokes is certain to bring mom a sense of unrestrained joy.
Art is the language of what is difficult to express.
It cuts right to the heart of emotions.
It encompasses the unspoken.
Four year olds aren't really up to the task of expressing their profound gratitude to their mommies. Four year olds expect unending love and the preparation of favorite lunches, regardless of the to-do list or how many bills are outstanding.
Five year olds expect hugs and endless caring and evening backrubs and just one more glass of water and yet another 'make-believe' story before eyes are sealed closed for the happily ever after part of the technicolor dreams.
The moral to the story?
Get out the paints.
For extra added bonus, gather some paper muffin liners.
Moms the world over delight in the one-of-a-kind treasure that shows depth of engagement from the heart and hands of their wee-wonder. Can't go wrong with a whole bulletin board of these sweet masterpieces -- just in time for end-of-the-year festivities: preschool graduation, Kindergarten Movin' On..... you name it, these would be a terrific addition to the celebration!
Teachers who know children, know moms.
Teachers provide just the right mix of support and encouragement to direct their students to create the one-of-a-kind.
Worthy of mats and frames.
Captured joy forever.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
From easel to bulletin board to heart.
Recently I wrote a little epistle on mothering, from a grand-mother perspective for a KBN (Kid Blogger Network) RoundUP.
After the fact, I created this little piece of subway art over at Picmonkey. It's my first effort at such. I wanted to give it to each of you readers as a little reminder and with the hopes of offering you a smile -- from me to you.
Love you, mom!
