Here's a way to keep your cookies from sharing calories!
FILL THEM WITH GLITTER!!!
AND LOVE!!!!
So much about celebrating children's art is in the 'presentation.'

Preschool is all about getting control of the materials.
Can you get a sense of how much 'glue' was used to affix these happy little pieces?
What is it about glue that lends it to 'the big squeeze'???

Now take at Gingerbread in LUV LUV LUV!

Here's a whole batch of Kindergarten Gingerbread People hanging on the bulletin board! My favorite part of this work are the bits and bobs that personalize each one.... a button here. A fancy hat there. Snazzy shoes.

Anchor chart for reading.
You know if you've read here for any length of time,
that I'm an appreciator of seeing 'hand-written' anchor charts.
Did you notice that this teacher has her's hanging on hangers?
How brilliant is that idea?

Hot off my memory card from earlier this afternoon are these glorious gingerbread people from first graders close to my heart!

First Graders Embellish their Gingerbread People with 'Chalk' Details for their Bulletin Board Display

There are so many wonderful things to say about gingerbread projects.

  1. You can tie it into literature studies and compare + contrast the various versions of the folk tales.
  2.  You could make a graph and find the favorite version.
  3. These projects demonstrate from preschool to first grade how students can gain mastery and control over their work (developing those fine motor skills.)
  4. The 'simple template' format of the ginger-person lends itself to easy exploration of the human form, by simplifying and providing the basic outline, which guarantees a level of success!

Having an anchor chart for a 'count-down' for your math?
PRICELESS!

A year from now I spy some amazing second grade gingerbread people and their gingerbread houses at the Atlanta airport. Here's a glimpse of them all together, but you really owe it to yourself to go over and take a look at the individual pieces in this article-from-the-future.

***Tomorrow night when I get back 'home' to Florida I will be choosing a winner of my set of picture books -- which I will be personalizing for the winner. Get over to this 'low entry' article for the details.
