Perspective & Viewpoints
I've been thinking a lot today about "perspective" and how that literally colors and informs everything that one does or understands. Like the old fable where the family is blindfolded and then given one aspect of the elephant to touch...... one person discerns that they are touching 'rope' because they are holding the tail, while another is certain they're touching a 'tree trunk' -- because they have only the elephant's leg for information.
I just photographed all four of these pictures this very afternoon. The first is a solo, close-up and from the top down. The second informs you of how this flower has friends near by and is poised at an angle, the third shot is from below & aims toward the sky..... the fourth shot attempts to capture the setting from more of a distance. Is any one picture right? Correct? Accurate? Your favorite?? You're probably more informed about these particular cone flowers if you get a chance to see the whole grouping of photographs. Could you find the correct driveway from just one picture? That's doubtful, but with all four images your chances would go way up. I'm not exactly sure how this discussion fits into the "bigger picture" but it's what I've been chewing on all day. Food for thought: PERSPECTIVE.
