Fresh Strawberry Season
This is an agricultural area after all...... right now every road side stand, farmer's market & art festival is featuring hand selected strawberries grown right here. JUICY!! Delicious. Yummy, yum yum. We're having them with everything: cereal, omlettes, ice cream. You name it -- it's better with these strawberries. The cherries will be next! The orchards are so full right now. This season's cherries promise to be monumental. Last year's winter was very rough and decimated the local crop. Seasons and cycles. This year's harvest is just about ready to get underway. Then we will have cherry festival-fun in every village up and down the shore. These berries are sitting on our kitchen counter, amidst my happy antique clutter that I've collected thru the years. Allen's mom gave us the scale in the picture and I always think of her kindness when I walk by this 'still life.' Her little brother John flew in just last night and the guys are getting all organized to go on a salmon fishing charter later this afternoon. Excitement is currently running on high test octane. Keep your fingers crossed. Allen's had both extremes of outcomes: catching nothing to catching his limit. Report to follow.
